Best Snow Boots for Women

Often saw snow boots are chunky, heavy, not stylish at all. However, I found some great luxury designers, cheap hiking snow boots for petite women like me. And some snow boots for wide feet, experienced by my friend.

Looking for boots for short legs are a little women’s burden, especially snow boots.

I certainly have struggled a lot with boots. I’m 158cm, 5’2.2 in feet and inches, and I rely on heels to add a few inches to our short height. However, it’s not a good idea to wear heels to walk in the snow.

I live in Hokkaido, Japan. It starts snowing in late October, and nothing better than a pair of snow boots in snowy white land. With 5-6 months of a blanket of snow lying on the ground in Hokkaido, snow boots are my top choice daily.

The challenging part is so hard to find the perfect snow boots owing to my short legs. Thankfully, many attractive options are practical and comfortable nowadays and won’t put a damper on style!

What are the best snow boots for Women?

First, the best snow boots should keep you warm, comfortable and safe on the snowy walk. Tips for choosing the proper snow boots—Click Here>>

Through my petite-friendly snow boots journey, I’ve nailed down the short girl snow boot formula. Now, when buying snow boots, besides these essential snow boot features, I always reference my checklist of heel height, boot height, and toe shape to ensure that I am investing in the right pair.

However, what clothes you wear play a vital role in the outfit for snowy weather. For instance, if I opt for flat sole and knee-high snow boots, I know I must wear fit and high waist clothes to balance my proportions. If I wear mid-calf snow boots, I know I need to wear pants and tack into the snow boots to accentuate my height.

Sorel Women’s TIVOLI™ IV Boots

snow boots

Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Waterproof, warm, comfortable, lightweight, stylish

Cons: lack of waist feet fit

Experience: I knew Sorel Caribou snow boots are famous. Considering the weight of Caribou, I decide to buy Sorel Tivoli black colour, and it’s much lighter and stylish. Especially I have short legs, and these snow boots made my legs looks skinny. It’s warm and super comfortable, and I wear it trudging around in the snow, no pain, no cold.

I ordered my usual size then saw some people recommend ordering half size more extensive, and I planned to change the size. But it fits me perfectly when I try it on with thermal socks unless thick socks. However, my friend’s feet width is a little bigger than mine, and she has to order a half size up to fit her feet comfortable.

I wore it to ice fishing. After over 3 hours sitting on the ice, my toes start to freeze. But no problem walking around all day. Therefore, if you do ice fishing often, look for others. If not, these are perfect casual snow boots.

The North Face Women’s ThermoBall™ Lace Up

snow boots

Buy on REI>>, Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Adjustable bungee, super lightweight, warm, comfortable, stylish

Cons: Water-repellent

Experience: At first, I ordered it just because the colour is so cute. Every year fall comes, I start to chase maple red, pumpkin, and ginger colours. So I ordered it straight away when I saw it online.

The single-pull lace-up design is brilliant, and I can slip on and go; how convenient! And it’s so cute, comfortable, and extremely lightweight. Moreover, the collar bungee is adjustable so that snow won’t get in.

The downside is these snow boots are not fully waterproof. Therefore, I never wear it on sleet day or walk on slush roads.

Compare the warmth with my Sorel TIVOLI™ IV Boots. I feel they are pretty similar. So I don’t wear it to ice fishing either.

Best Women’s Snow Boots for Wide Feet

My friend told me that people who have wide feet tend to experience ill-fitting boots. So she has to check the footwear width before purchasing it. Sometimes, the footwear width is perfect but not snug well, which took her time to find the perfect one. Below are the two best snow boots for wide feet of her list.

Baffin CHLOE Women’s Boots

snow boots

Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Suitable for flat or waist feet, waterproof, comfortable

Cons: Cumbersome

Experience: My friend has waist feet, and it’s not easy for her to find perfect fit snow boots. However, once she tried Baffin CHLOE Women’s Boots, she stuck with them for a long time.

They are unbelievably fit perfectly, comfortable, and very warm for snowy weather. There is enough room for her to wear thick socks, but also she can wear thinner ones and still feel comfortable. The boots are heavy, but it doesn’t perplex her. These are her favourite snow boots.

Merrell Women’s Thermo Chill Mid Waterproof

snow boots

Buy on REI>>, Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Medium width, waterproof, warm, comfortable

Cons: Cumbersome, lack ability to waterproof

Experience: These boots are very comfortable fit wide feet. My friend wore them to snow hiking, not pain during the track.

However, she found Merrell Women’s Thermo Chill Mid boots are not good at waterproof. When she was on the way back, it was sleet. And her feet got wet when she went back to the car. Waterproof snow boots technically should not let feet get wet. This point immensely disappointed her.

Consider the shoes real snug her feet well; she decided to keep them and wear them when not raining.

Kamik The MOMENTUM 3 Winter Boots

snow boots

Buy on DSW>>, Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Vegan-friendly, warm, waterproof, comfortable

Cons: Heavy, poor style

Experience: My friend bought this one because it was the cheap option of snow boots, and it’s super warm that she only need to wear thin thermal socks in the heavy snow. Her last snow boots were Sorel Caribou snow boots. But her lifestyle changed, so she decided to buy cheaper snow boots. And Kamik The MOMENTUM 3 Winter Boot turn out not bad. It has a more extended shaft height to walk in the deep snow without snow getting in. Also, it ground on the snow nicely. Compared to her old Sorel Caribou snow boots, Kamik The MOMENTUM 3 Winter Boots are not extremely warm but warm enough for the snowy day with thermal socks.

The downside is the lack of fashion and heavyweight. However, at this cheap snow boots price and the quality, she won’t complain.

Sperry Women’s Saltwater Winter Luxe Duck Boots

snow boots

Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Waterproof, lightweight, comfortable, suitable for flat or waist feet

Cons: Snow gets into boots, lack ability to a temperature below freezing

Experience: I won’t call Sperry duck snow boots, but I wear them when less snow is on the surface, like late October when the snow starts to fall or March when the snow melts.

It’s my rain boots in a cute version, and I bought them as I left my wellies in Australia. I was thinking of L.L. bean boots. But the L.L. bean 6″ boots are too short, and 8″ are too tall for me. Then I go with Sperry duck boots, and it’s perfect for my height, comfortable and stylish. I wear my daily outfit with Sperry duck boots when walking around and make the simple look great. The downside is snow gets in over the edges due to the loose opening around the ankle.

It’s super warm for non-snow or less snow winter. Not warm enough for temperatures below 15 degrees and heavy snow weather because of the rubber, so I need to wear thermal socks to keep my feet warm. (Cannot wear thick socks because of no room for it.) And still, my feet were icy within 15 minutes when the temperature was about 15 degrees.

Not recommend people who have thick calves to buy Sperry duck boots. Because one of my friends bought it after me, and it made her legs look short and broader.

Best High-end Luxury Snow Boots

Dior Snow Ankle Boots

snow boots

Buy on Official Website>>

Pros: Chic, lightweight

Cons: water-repellent

Experience: Dior snow ankle boots are so chic! It’s comfortable and warm in the snow. At first, I planned to buy CHLOÉ Moon Boots. However, I was totally in love when I first saw it on Dior Winter 2021 Runway. It dubbed Dior snow ankle boots as a ‘new take on the snow boot in a couture variation’, a master item in a snow fashion wardrobe.

Although it’s not fully waterproof, it is good enough to walk around the city. I love the texture and the well-made details. Also, it’s lace-up closure on the Dior website and actual single-pull lace with a ‘CD’-branded toggle, which is chic, fasten and convenient. I love it so much.

P.S. I wear it to play snow tube or snow slider, but not hiking.

UGG Australia Adirondack III Boots

snow boots

Buy on Farfetch>>, Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Warm (Weather Rated to -32˚C (-25.6°F)), waterproof, dry quick, cute

Cons: Size runs small. The sheepskin part discolours when touched water often.

Experience: My toe is correct to the tip when I wear the boots, and my feet touch right at the edge. UGG Adirondack III boots are super warm, so I don’t need to wear very thick socks. But, it’s not a good sign that my toe is at the very tip of these boots. (I’m very narrow feet.) So I have to change the size.

The rubber on the boots is slightly ribbed, which makes it quite durable. Great texture, comfortable, and looks so cute. Weather Rated to -32˚C, which keep my feet super warm, apparently don’t need to wear thick socks. The wool inside the boots is very soft, and I don’t feel any itchiness when wearing thin thermal socks.

The downside is that the sheepskin part can’t touch much water; otherwise, it will quickly discolour. But the rubber and leather parts are delicate. The leather caused me little time to care, but it was still okay.

Columbia Women’s Minx™ Mid III Boots

snow boots

Buy on REI>>, Buy on Amazon>>

Pros: Warm, low-profile fit, comfortable, waterproof, lightweight, cute

Cons: Laces are not easy to tight, not good waterproof

Experience: I wore these boots to hiking, and it was so comfortable, lightweight, warm, and breathable. Columbia minx mid-III snow boots are adorable, and I took many lovely photos.

The downside is the laces, which I loop through the back and find out it’s hard to make lace tight up. My socks get wet from boots when I walk a half-day in the snow; it looks like the waterproof ability is not stable.

My friend bought the same one, but she felt horrible, too narrow for her. So she had to squeeze in and felt the pinch. Perhaps, she has thick ankles and meaty calves than me. So she returns it.
