women OTG ski goggles

Best Women’s OTG Ski Goggles Reviews

People who have prescription eyeglasses may look for a ski goggle that works well with their eyeglasses. Those OTG ski goggles, aka Over The Glass ski goggles, are born for it. Some OTG ski goggles are women’s specific fit.

Women’s specific fit OTG ski goggles are a bit different. There are slightly smaller but still bigger than youth ski goggles. Ideas for women who need prescription ski goggles and faces are somewhat smaller.

I have and recommend the best women’s OTG goggles are: Oakley Fall Line M, Oakley Flight Deck™ M, Smith Showcase OTG, Anon Women’s WM1, Anon Women’s WM3, Giro Index 2.0, and Bolle Explorer OTG. These ski goggles are particular for women, and each has plus points and minus points, as shown below. I also measure each goggle’s width and height so that you can check if it fits with your eyeglass.

Prescription OTG Ski Goggles

People who wear prescription eyeglasses need specific goggles to see when skiing and snowboarding. There’re many types of prescription ski goggles, and OTG goggles are one of them.

OTG is an acronym for over the glass. That means you can wear OTG ski goggles above eyeglass comfortable by the specific function. It prevents eyeglass from being pushed onto the face. Because OTG ski goggles offer more space between the eyes and goggle lenses. You can wear eyeglasses underneath because the notch at the side of the frame lets eyeglasses’ arms fit under the foam.

Men’s Vs Women’s Ski Goggles

In general, ski goggles are unsexed. However, some ski goggles are designed for women or people with smaller heads. Good women’s OTG goggles can seal on their faces and fit them snug and comfy.

Wear OTG Goggles without Glasses

Although OTG goggles are designed to wear over the eyeglasses, you can wear them without glasses. Many women’s specific OTG goggles are trendy whether you wear glasses.

Such as Smith Showcase, Oakley Flight Deck™ M, Oakley Fall Line M, Anon Women’s WM3, Anon Women’s WM1, Giro Index 2.0, and Bolle Explorer OTG.

How to Choose OTG Ski Goggles for Women

There are many functions to look at when choosing ski goggles. But there are four recommendations when selecting women’s OTG goggles.

Right Goggle Size

The right frame size will keep snow out and make your face as comfortable as possible.

The simple way to select frame size is your ski helmet size. Some people (men and women) have small faces must check the size when choosing ski goggles. If the ski goggle is too big, the foam edge is not in contact with your face all around the edge of the goggle frame. Choose a small frame size if you wear a small helmet. In other words, if you wear a large helmet, consider a larger frame size.

Perfect Fit with Eyeglasses

As OTG goggles work by fitting your eyeglass inside the goggle, the OTG goggle must be big enough to fit over your glasses.

Any goggles labelled OTG should be eyeglasses compatible. However, some OTG goggles tend to work with small frame eyeglasses, and some are fit large frame eyeglasses.

Generally, the medium to large size could fit most eyeglasses. However, it’s much more difficult when choosing goggles for small faces. Because petite faces usually have small frame goggles.

In my case, my old rectangular eyeglass is exit with all my OTG goggles. But my new bold square eyeglasses can’t work successfully with some of my OTG goggles.

If you find your eyeglasses are hard to fit with OTG goggles, consider other prescription ski goggles.

Other Prescription Ski Goggles Options>>

Low Bridge Fit (Asian Fit)

People who have flat noses always have a problem on the slope. You’re breathing out the water vapour and exhaling in cold weather when you are out. It’s not surprising that it might fog up the outside of your lens. Most goggles have accommodation for a large nose bridge. So someone with a flatter face or smaller nose bridge, there’s a gap at the nose bridge. The problem is the water vapour goes up in the hole and fogs up the goggle inside when exhaling.

The goggle has less space and accommodates flatter noses with a low bridge fit. So when you put the goggle on your face, that is hugging your nose.

Who Can Wear Asian Fit Goggles?

Anyone with a flatter nose or face can benefit from wearing Asian fit ski goggles. Some stylish OTG goggles, like Anon, Smith, Giro brands, provide an Asian Fit option. Especially Anon WM1 is superior low bridge fit OTG goggles.

Anti-fog and Ventilation

Whether you move faster, breathe harder, or hit more cold air, OTG ski goggles shouldn’t steam up. Fog can hinder your view and increase the chances of accidents and injury. Therefore, it’s essential to have goggle lenses with anti-fog coating and a proper ventilation system to ensure clear vision and optimum comfort.

Side Note: DO NOT touch the inside of the lenses, even it’s wet inside. So that you won’t jeopardise the factory’s anti-fog finish.

Bolle Explorer OTG Goggles

Bolle Explorer OTG Goggles

Buy on Official Website>>

Pros: Anti-Scratch Coating, lightweight, cheap

Cons: Fogging, doesn’t fit with big eyeglasses

Experience: My friend bought this Bolle ski goggle. Once she tried it on, it was a bit tight for her. The small goggle frame barely covered her eyes and did not cover any significant part of my face. My friend’s head size is 55cm, and these were a bit tight for her. It is more like teen’s or children’s OTG ski goggles. If you prefer a large frame, the suggestion is to look for others.

Another problem is anti-fog coating. Although the lens is coated with an anti-fog layer, it still fogs up. Many reviews said it’s with anti-fog coating, no fogging problem, but it did in my friend’s case.

The excellent part of Bolle Explorer OTG Goggles is the price and scratch-free. It’s really super scratch-free, and the price is ideal for first-time skiers to try on.

Pros: Fit, comfort, quality, functionality

Cons: Slightly bigger for a small head, but still okay with a helmet on

Experience: Giro Index 2.0 looks large but actually fits me nicely. It features greatly expanded view technology that I won’t miss peripheral vision. The lens allows me to read the terrains, day and night riding, cloudly and sunny conditions. There’s a lot of ventilation at the top and bottom. It is fantastic because the snow doesn’t melt, absorb, and create more fog on the lens while on the slope. Also, this goggle enhances my depth prescription eyeglass well. It fits super comfortably.

The strap is expandable and adjustable. The inside has a little rubberised texture. So when I wear a helmet with this goggle, it holds in place, very grippy. It’s a lovely OTG goggle with these points and at this price.

I would recommend Giro Index 2.0 Goggles to people looking for OTG ski goggles that fit a small head well, and the price is in between.

Pros: Functionality, fit, style, quality, comfortable

Cons: Size a bit smaller.

Experience: These goggles fit well over my eyeglass and right on my flat nose. It was better than I expected, including everything I asked for and needed in a goggle. It’s comfortable to wear and has excellent visibility with a high-quality lens. It’s no fogging issues that can see clearly during weather transitions. Moreover, I can read the trail map without removing my goggles. Besides, I notice that the new 2022 version is venting better. It’s good news for people who plan to buy one.

The downside is Smith Showcase OTG is slightly smaller than other women-specific ski goggles. However, it still fits me well. (Not too good for my friend, though) My head is small. Basically, any size ‘F’ hats or caps are too big for me. If you’re the same as me, then this OTG goggle will fit you comfortably.

Side Note: Suggestion buys from Smith Official Website. When I wrote this article, the reviews from Amazon made me doubt that did we purchased the same Smith Showcase OTG ski goggles? ( I bought from Smith and got no issue with them.) To avoid any risk, I recommend buying from the Official Website is the best choice if you want to buy Smith Showcase OTG ski goggles.

Oakley Flight Deck™ M Snow Goggles

Pros: Lightweight, durable, functional, stylish, comfortable

Cons: Scratch quickly, need tech to change lens(tips shown below), no Asian Fit

Experience: Wear glasses and superbly comfortable fit. I got these with the Prizm™ lens, which helps me see the terrain. Good vision in both sunny and cloudy conditions. In particular, I can see clearly when night skiing and riding. The lens gets fogged up while I wear the mask but clears quickly. So that it doesn’t bother me much.

Optics are excellent, and they look really cool. However, changing the lenses can be a pain because the frame is soft and flexible. It took me some time to work out. And I got some tips for you to change the Oakley Flight Deck™ M Snow Goggles lens in 1 minute the first time.

Take the lens off: Use one hand to hold the goggle by the frame base. Then the other hand pulls the notch (at the centre top of the frame) away, and it will release all way around.

Fit the lens back:

  1. Pinch the nose bridge of the frame, give it a little squeeze.
  2. Snap the bottom of the lens part in.
  3. Slide the sides into the groove and hook the top corners back in.
  4. Give it a little snap at the top.
  5. Check everything locked in and done!

One thing I wish better is anti-scratch. I promise I use it very carefully, but it still got some scratches on the first day of use. I even have no idea how.

Side Tip: You may see the pair you bought from Oakley has XM on the packaging and tag. Oakley Flight Deck™ M and Oakley Flight Deck™ XM are the same. You can always look at the part number to see if the number is the same. Same with Flight Deck L and XL.

Oakley Fall Line M Snow Goggles

Pros: Lightweight, durable, functional, stylish, comfortable

Cons: Scratch quickly, no Low Bridge Fit

Experience: This is a gift from my friend. It’s so stylish and comfortable. Same as my Oakley Flight Deck™ M Snow Goggles, it had a minimal amount of fogging issues. But it won’t stay long. Once it was gone, there was excellent clarity on the slope in almost all light conditions. I’m considering purchasing a different lens for dark days. (My friend bought me a Prizm™ Rose lens)

They fit comfortable and nicely all day on the face with eyeglass underneath. The only downside is they quickly get scratches, the same as Oakley Flight Deck™ M Snow Goggles.

Overall, they are still excellent OTG ski goggles.

Thank you and love ya, Em~

Side Tip: Oakley Fall Line size stands alone and varies from the M, XM and the L and Xl. That means Oakley Fall Line M and Oakley Fall Line XM are different. And Oakley Fall Line L and Oakley Fall Line LX, either. To prove, you can look at the part number.

Pros: Quick lens change, lightweight, fit small head well, style, quality, comfortable

Cons: Easy to get scratched, doesn’t come with a hard case

Experience: My friend bought Anon WM1 ski goggles, which she loves so much. The first thing is the mirrored lens is easy to change. Simple enough to change lenses without taking google off from the helmet or head because of the magnet technology. Second, the MFI mask magnetises the goggles to ensure it stays up and provides good venting so that she can breathe comfortably. Third, the goggle ventilation is excellent as well. Plus, the anti-fog coating keeps the goggle inside clear and fog-free. Fourth, the strap stays on the helmet by the silicone inside the belt. So that the goggle won’t move while skiing or snowboarding.

The downside is the goggle has gotten scratched pretty easily. My friend made minor scratches on them almost immediately. Also, the spare lens doesn’t come with a hard case. Her husband’s Anon M4 goggles actually have a hardshell case.

While compared with my Smith Showcase goggle, the Anon WM1 Asian Fit fits slightly better than the Smith goggles. The padding isn’t overly thick and is super comfortable without any pinching. However, Smith Showcase goggles still provide an excellent low bridge fit for people with flat noses.

Pros: Quick lens change, functionality, fit, lightweight, quality, comfortable

Cons: Easy to get scratched, not Low Bridge Fit, doesn’t come with a hard case

Experience: I bought Anon WM3 goggles after my friend’s good experience with Anon WM1 Goggles. Same as WM1, the lens is quickly interchangeable. They have the quick-release technology magnet where the lenses are attached. I can’t get over how easy it is to change the lenses! Also, it’s solid and durable. The lens is not gonna come off when falling. Absolutely love the magnetic lens. It’s a perfect fit for me as I have a smaller head and wear my glasses inside. Another good thing is that the inside of lenses is coated with an anti-fog coating (Same as Anon WM1). So it doesn’t fog up while you’re wearing them.

The MFI magnetic facemask integration system that comes with the goggle is fantastic. It’s like a neck warmer, and get the vents at the top to help you breathe. The cool thing is it got magnets at the front top. So it actually seals up against seamless fit.

The inside of the strap has silicon, which strips down it. So that it really grips onto your helmet, and it’s not going to come flying off.

The only thing that disappointed me is the lens is still super easy to get scratched. My WM3 got few marks on it after my first-day use. Same situation as my friend with WM1.

Overall, pretty expensive pair of goggles. But honestly, the features and how good quality these are sort of makeup for that.

Oakley Fall Line M Vs Flight Deck™ M

Oakley Fall Line M and Flight Deck™ M are pretty much identical.

The Flight Deck™ M has a little wider field of vision, so you can see more by just moving your eyeballs rather than needing to turn your head. Other than that, the main difference is the Spherical lens and Cylindrical lens shape.

The Flight Deck™ M is a curved Spherical lens shape. It combines decentered technology with a lens curvature that mimics the curvature of the human eye. This means the Spherical lens shape does a better job at blocking glare and minimising distortion. Also, it has more space between your face and the lens than the cylindrical lens, which helps to reduce fogging.

On the other hand, the Fall Line M is a Cylindrical lens shape, which is flatter and cheaper. It utilises decentered injection technology to taper a thinner profile on the edges. That means you can have a distorted view at certain angles. However, most cylindrical goggles are designed to sit close enough to your face to create a decent peripheral view.

The difference between Flight Deck™ M and Fall Line M isn’t very noticeable when wearing them, and both are great.

Side Note: All the goggles are not available in Asian Fit on Oakley.com.

Anon WM1 Goggles Vs WM3 Goggles

Anon WM1 and WM3 have a lot of the same features. Both have:

  • Lightweight Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU) Frame
  • Perceive Tech lenses – let you see the more natural field of colour, reduce eye fatigue, fog-free and smudge-free.
  • Two different lenses come with it
  • MAGNA-TECH® lens system
  • Integral Clarity Technology (ICT) – Anon’s anti-fog treatment
  • Full Perimeter Channel Venting
  • No-Slip Silicone Strap
  • Triple Layer Face Foam
  • Outlast® Fog Management Face Fleece
  • MFI® facemask (if purchased)
  • Includes Microfiber Goggle Bag
  • Helmet Compatible
  • Over The Glasses (OTG) Compatible

The only difference between Anon WM1 and WM3 is the lens shape.

  • Anon WM1 – Spherical lens shape
  • Anon WM3 – Cylindrical lens shape

Spherical vs Cylindrical, as I mentioned: Spherical provides slightly better optics and less glare. Cylindrical isn’t optically as good, but there isn’t that much difference.
