Ski Helmet Review

POC Obex Spin Communication

It integrates headphones into the helmet. So you can connect to Bluetooth or wiggle the cord (included) under the jacket and insert it into the smartphone (or other audio devices). The helmet’s remote control cord is compatible with most smartphones. Therefore, you can switch songs, take calls and adjust the volume seamlessly.

Pros:  Integrated Bluetooth speaker and microphone, lightweight, comfortable, adjustable vents, rotational impact system, fixed Goggle Clip

Cons: Button too small and no dedicated control, partial adjustment for more comfort or stability

Experience: Great helmet, audio work great. My husband used this helmet many times and feels very satisfied.

The Bluetooth connection is fast and well. He only had a couple of auto disconnects when he paused the music for long periods, which is fine. (save mobile battery anyway) After phone calls, it keeps you updated with the latest conditions.

It’s able to listen to music for hours or take calls. Btw, the volume can be pretty loud if you want.

The vents work very well, keep your head warm but not toast so that you can wear the helmet without a hatIt’s very comfortable to wear a ski helmet without a hat or beanie. ( I bought one after my husband’s great experience, I love it.) The vents work very well, keep your head warm but not toast so that you can wear the helmet without a hat or beanie underneath.

The downside is no button to skip songs or turn the volume up or down, and you have to adjust on your device. (My husband use Siri to voice control, so no issue for him)

However, the integrated Bluetooth and speaker both work well. It’s just a tiny issue compared to listening to music for hours or taking calls.

For a better budget-friendly option, it’s still a top contender. It’s comfort, style, and safety at the right price. Also, it comes with high-quality Bern Watts headphones.

Pros: Lightweight, comfortable, vents are great, warm, stylish, easy add on PDW Bike Light and Drop-In Wireless Audio Chips

Cons: Minor goggle and helmet gap with some goggles, summer attachments are sold separately, no option to close vents, the audio system is sold separately

Experience: My husband bought this helmet from a local retailer. There’s a small slot on earpads for inserting the wireless audio chip. So that you can connect Bluetooth with your device without extra earphones.

The earpads and the liner are all one piece but removable. If you want to change to a summer liner, you need to purchase one separately, which costs 30 more dollars. It doesn’t bother my husband cause he doesn’t need it in the summertime.

Sometimes, he is skiing in the nighttime. This helmet can add PDW bicycle lights on easily, convenient enough.

Overall, it’s a good helmet but limited goggles because of the visor shape. Smith I/O goggles and Oakley Flight Decks google will fit it well by experience.

K2 Phase Pro

K2 looks like it belongs to professional skiers as they race down the course. It’s functional and comfortable because of the K2 Dialed™ fit system and Active Matrix ventilation. You can quickly adjust the airflow by simply tapping the button.

Pros: Comfortable, stylish, lightweight, significant adjustments

Cons: No Bluetooth, the AUX cord is a bit long, unstable audio quality

Experience: THIS HELMET IS NOT BLUETOOTH. My husband thought he was buying a Bluetooth helmet, but it isn’t.

There’s an AUX cord that you have to connect to your device. (sometimes you need an adapter) Although the audio and speaker are built-in and easy to connect to devices, you still need the cord. It’s my husband’s bad. He didn’t read the description correctly.

Excellent adjustability to maximise comfort and stability, no matter your head shape.

You can make calls and listen to music on the slopes at your fingertips. However, my husband felt the volume control was hard to adjust with gloves. While my friend said, that was okay for her. Both of them think the sound quality is not satisfying.

Demon Phantom with Audio

It’s the Brainteaser Audio integration, and you can plug the included auxiliary cord into your smartphone to listen to music. Bonus balaclava comes with every single purchase of this ski helmet.

Pros: Warmth, cheap, free balaclava

Cons: No Bluetooth, superheavy, only two ventilation, no fit adjustment

Experience: This helmet does not have Bluetooth. I bought this one only because it was cheap. The speaker is just average but removable. The Sennheiser headphone quality is also just not bad. So I added a better quality speaker by myself, which cost me $90. (Outdoor Tech Bluetooth Wireless Chips 2.0 comes with headphones, a speaker and Bluetooth. Easy to use and easy to control with glove) But I wasn’t expecting it at this price.

It came with a free balaclava which can keep you warm but not comfortable as these helmets that you don’t need to wear a hat or beanie underneath.

One tip for you if you decide to buy this helmet. When you try to connect the AUX cord to your device, it looks like it is broken, not working. You can push pretty hard to join the male and female ends together to play music. It works for me. (And I changed it because the sound quality was not so hot for me)

Specifically, the helmet is not adjustable. Measure the helmet size correctly before you purchase it.

Well balanced with quality and price.

If your budget is very tight and wishes ski helmet comes with audio, it’s a good choice (no Bluetooth). I only hope they would improve the audio quality rather than the free balaclava.
