About Asahiyama Zoo

Asahiyama Zoo was made around 1955 but embodied in 1964 and opened in 1967. It neighbored the Asahiyama park, which is a scenic spot by the cherry blossoms. [Click Here]

Family Fun

You can view animals from different angles, which creates a lot of fun experiences. There are glass domes called seals eyes in many animal areas, such as Polar bears, wolves, etc. You will be like a groundhog, have a burrow and view animals outside the hole. When you go to the underwater glass tunnel, you can view penguins swimming in the water from underneath.

How to Get Here

From Sapporo to Asahikawa, it will take about 2-2.5hour. From Biei to Asahikawa will take about 30 minutes. 

By Car

About 30 minutes from Asahikawa Station.

By Local Bus

From Asahikawa Station Bus Stop No.6, take Bus No. 41, 42, or 47 and get off at Asahiyama Zoo bus Stop.

NOTICE: There are shuttle buses that leave from Asahikawa Station and Asahikawa Airport.

Conclusion

I recommend you come early, just before the zoo opens, because the queue can get very long. However, you can spend half-day or a day taking time here looking at various animals as it’s pretty big.
