About Summer Season in Hokkaido

September to November, usually the days are rather cold and windy. The temperature ranges between 1.3°C to 23°C. So a good windbreaker and sweatshirt (or fleece) will keep you prepared for the weather outside.

What To Wear in The Autumn

Along with the months, the temperature is going cold and the first snowfalls in Autumn. Hence, I will share with you what to wear and how locals wear in Autumn.

September

The temperature drops from the middle of September. You will steadily add more warm clothes as it comes to get chilly. That’s to say, September is the month with the highest rainfall in Hokkaido. Be prepared for rain if you plan on visiting in September. 

Adult

Outerwear – windbreaker, trench coat

Innerwear – underwear

Top – long-sleeve shirt, hoodie, sweatshirt

Bottom – pants, tight+skirt

Footwear – no-slip footwear

Accessories – umbrella/raincoat

October

Gradually the leaves turn red or yellow from middle October in southern Hokkaido to northern Hokkaido. Besides, it snowed on the top of mountains in October, which almost means the season is changing to Winter. The temperature is too warm to keep snow on the surface. Thus, it’s still okay to wear sneakers.

If you plan on visiting in June, a raincoat or rain jacket could come in handy for rainy days.
