Sakura-Dori (桜通り) is a hidden place in Sapporo city. It’s 79 cherry trees on a 900m sidewalk. Locals love to bring kids promenaded back and forth on Sakura-Dori. This cherry blossom spot is becoming very popular by word of mouth. Besides, there is a secret taco shop nearby. Don’t miss out.
About Sakura-Dori
From 1980 to 1981, they planted 70 double‐flowered cherry trees and 9 Sargent’s cherry trees when they built the road. The Sargent’s cherry blossoms are earlier than double‐flowered cherry every year at Sakura-Dori. It’s worth mentioning that the double‐flowered cherry trees bloom for ten days. And other cherry trees blossom basic for a week.
As it’s in a quiet residential area, locals like to stroll on the sidewalk with kids. And enjoy a joyful family time with beautiful cherry blossoms on an ordinary day.
There’s one thing to share with you before you go. Although you walk on the sidewalk, make eye contact with any nearby drivers before crossing. The advantages of paying attention to safety outweigh their disadvantages.
Until now, Sakura-Dori has become a popular cherry blossom spot by word of mouth. These days, more and more tourists from all around Japan visit here in the cherry blossom season.

Secret Shop Only Locals Know
There’s a very famous taco shop near Sakura- Dori, called Supatakosu Maruyama (スパタコスmaruyama). You can easily walk past the shop because it opens in the garage. They’re out of food for a day quickly. You get to go there early.

How To Get Here
Sakura-Dori is on the road from West 20-Chome to 28-Chome between South 4 and 5.

- By Subway
From Sapporo-station(Sapporo subway), get on the Tozai Line, going toward Miyanosawa. And, get off at Nishi Juhatchome Station and walk for about 7 minutes.
- By Bus
From Sapporo Eki Mae Bus Terminal, get on the Bus Highway Otaru for Otaru Sta. mae via Kosoku Maruyama. And get off at Doritsu kindai bijutsukan. Then walk for about 11 minutes.
